Jan Lubiński

Professor Jan Lubiński, habilitated doctor of medical sciences, is an expert in the field of clinical genetics of cancer and pathomorphology.

Achievements:

  • for many years, the highest number of citations in the world among Polish geneticists and oncologists
  • establishing and publishing the scientific journal “Hereditary Cancer in Clinical Practice”
  • annual publication of the monograph “Clinical Genetics of Cancer”
  • over 1,100 published scientific papers
  • over 25 patents granted and implemented

Membership of many Polish and international organizations and institutions of scientific, social and economic life. Winner of many awards for his scientific achievements, including: from the Minister of Health. Receiving honorary doctorate degrees from the Medical University of Riga in 2005 and the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin in 2019. Obtaining 2nd place in the ranking of the most influential doctors in the world, and 1962nd in the world in the “Top Medicine Scientists” ranking.

He is also a member of many Polish and international organizations and institutions of scientific, social and economic life. He has received awards many times for his scientific achievements, including: from the Minister of Health. The professor was recognized as one of the most influential medics in the world, ranking 2nd among Poles, and 1962nd in the world in the “Top Medicine Scientists” ranking.

The professor is also a pioneer in the field of cancer prevention, as well as genetic predictors of breast, ovarian and colon cancer. In the years 1999-2001, he implemented the world’s first population-based genetic and oncological preventive program. Since then, he has been coordinating the implementation of his own project to develop a network of hereditary cancer registries.

From the beginning, his scientific career was associated with the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, where he gained professional experience from 1971.

During his career, he played such important roles as:

  • Head of the Department of Oncology and the Department of Genetics and Pathomorphology, Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin
  • Vice-Rector for Science, PUM in Szczecin
  • National consultant in the field of clinical genetics
  • Founder and chairman of the Clinical Cancer Genetics Section of the PTGC
  • Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Human Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences
  • Member of the Scientific Council of the National Center for Research and Development
  • Polish representative in the GENTURIS program – the European reference network of hereditary cancer centers

In the “Wellysa” application, he will be responsible for expert assessment of high-risk cancers. Users will also be able to individually consult their results with him.
